The Telamon (pronounced Telamon) is a male sculpture in the round or in relief, used as support, structural or decorative, often to replace columns or pilasters.
It is synonymous with Atlas (which in Greek mythology bears the pillars of the sky) and is the male corresponding cariatide. The "tel-" root means "(sop) bring", representing the mythological Telamon.
We find an example in the Museum of Agrigento.
