Francesco Crispi (Ribera 1818 - Naples 1901)
Italian patriot and statesman it was among the proponents of the 1848 constitution, and between proponents of an Italian federalism in which it was recognized to Sicily explicit autonomy. Elected Member of Parliament vote against the Bourbon dynasty. Supervening reaction, he went into exile in Piedmont, where he worked in journalism. But he was expelled for his republican tendencies. Malta moved to London where he met Mazzini and modified its program in a unified way. But in 1859 he returned to Sicily to excite the revolution. During the expedition became the Secretary of State of the Dictatorship (May 1860) and provided the organization and administration of the island.
