Diodorus of Agira, said siculo
Born in Agirum, now St. Philip of Argirņ. He lived under Julius Caesar and Augustus. He visited Greece, Asia, Egypt, Europe, and was also in Carthage. He wrote, in thirty years of hard work, the History of the general, in forty books. Of them they do not remain that fifteen. He began with the events that occurred before the Trojan War and ended with Caesar's war in Gaul. He inquired of Thucydides, Xenophon, Apollodorus, Timaeus and others. His books are still invaluable source of news. He died in Rome at 77 years.
